He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Southerland and Mossie Southerland; his siblings, Orville Clark (late Joyce), Joyce Tolliver (Jim), Jim Southerland (Jan) and Lloyd Southerland; his grandson Yusuf; and his in-laws, David and Dorothy Mae Query.

He is survived by: his wife Barbara Southerland; his children, Billy Southerland (Suzanne), Tim Southerland (Kim) and Amy Scherr (Rick); his siblings, Vida Reith (Len), Alma Dean Epperson (Bill) and Coy Southerland (Robin); and his grandchildren, Brittany (Josh), Samantha (Zane), Alison (Connor), Blake (Liz), Jacob (Hannah), Tanner (Karla), Caroline (Jacob), Billy, Maddie, Ben, Austin, Sydney, Prince and Alex (Alizee). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as many dear friends.
