He was predeceased by: his parents, Allen Philpot and Beatrice Philpot; his former wife Catherine Philpot; his daughter Mona Rae Philpot; his grandson Aaron B. Mitchell; and his siblings, John Allen, Nathaniel, Thelma Jean, Joe, Arthur Lee, Mack L. and Cassandra.
He is survived by: his wife Catherine "Cat" Sims; his sister Grace Tyner; and his children, Connie L. Mitchell (late Edward Mitchell), Edward A. Philpot (Zelma), Kathy L. Philpot, Gloria E. Spencer (Scott) and Doris A. Philpot. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 2nd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Calhoun Funeral Home (23000 Rockside Rd, Bedford Heights, OH 44146). A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 at 11:00 AM and at 12:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of South Euclid (835 Trebisky Rd, Cleveland, OH 44143).
