He is survived by: his daughter Teresa Carter (James); his grandchildren, Megan Land Mason Carter (Douglas) and James Carter Jr.; his great grandchildren, Madelene and Annabelle; and his siblings, MaryAnn Sollan (Neal), Patty Adkins (Mel), Patrick McCafferty (Pat) and Veronica Rodriguez (Rocco). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
