He is survived by: his brother Michael Shannahan (Claudia); his children, Jay Shannahan (Melissa) and Tracy Kovacs (Todd Lycans); and his grandsons, Christopher Kovacs and Austin Kovacs. He is also survived by many cousins, nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, grand-nieces, and friends.
