He was loved and cherished by many people including : his wife Melanie McDonald; his children, Felicia, Breen and Ian; his parents, Alexander "Sandy" McDonald and Vonna Mobily McDonald of Euclid; and his siblings, Alex, Matthew, Harry and Blaise.

“Melanie and Ian - I'm so sorry to hear this. My deepest condolences on behalf of the Club. I'll always remember how happy Sean was to watch Ian play. Whether it was football or rugby, he would become so intense as his inner competitor emerged around the pitch! When we mad the transition from Warriors to Wildcats, Sean was extremely influential in that process. In fact, he was one of 3 guys in that room that helped make it happen. A special man who will truly be missed by all of us.”
