He was predeceased by: his parents, James Carothers and Rosalyn Carothers; his brother James Bruce Carothers; and his siblings-in-law, Rae Ann Carothers, Donald Beeken and Robert Carter.

He is survived by: his spouse Sandy Williams; his grandsons, Jack Meddick, Malcolm and Colin McBain; and his sisters, Susan Carter and Connie Beeken. He is also survived by his wife, children.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to First Presbyterian Church of Clyde, Ohio.
