He was predeceased by: his parents, George W. Matney and Evelyn Matney (Salyers); his granddaughter Rachelle; and his siblings, Gordon Ray Matney and Betty Jane Craig.
He is survived by: his wife Paula M. Matney (Welch); his children, Karen Sutton (Dick) of Ironton, Samantha Aylor (Jack) of Wayne Co, WV, Tonya Potter of South Shore, KY and Matthew Well Matney (Stephanie) of Coal Grove, OH; his siblings, James Earl Matney (Carol) of Coal Grove, OH and Clara Ellen Fields of Coal Grove, OH; and his grandchildren, Victoria Knipp (Andy) of Ironton, Garrett Mitchell Sutton of Charleston, WV and Emilee Brooke Matney of Coal Grove, OH. He is also survived by friends and other family members.
