She was predeceased by: her parents, Burton Gilfillen and Lauretta Gilfillen (Richter); her husband Lester John Hereth; and her siblings, Irvin and Betty.

She is survived by: her children, Larry (Kathy), Debbi Maxwell (Craig) and Ric (Bernie); her grandchildren, Jonathan Maxwell, Jordan, Justin and Joel Hereth; her nieces, Barb, Sherri and Darlene (Molyneaux); and her nephew Scott.

In lieu of flowers, love offerings in Shirley's name may be made to Friendship Baptist Church or White Oak Christian Church (Ross campus).
