It is with sadness that the passing of Charles R. Shaner (Columbus, Ohio) is shared. Charles, born on July 23, 1929, passed away on August 28, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Charles will be remembered for the time spent with loved ones and the moments that brought joy to those around him. Friends and family will honor Charles by reflecting on shared memories and the positive influence he had in their lives. Though Charles is no longer present, the bonds he created and the experiences shared will endure. Charles’s memory will continue to be a source of comfort for all who knew him.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles J. Shaner and Louise Shaner (Golden); his brother Bob Jones; and his wife Joann. He is survived by: his children, Larry Wright (Linda), Patti LaPorte (Jim), Cyndy Sieving (Mike), Chuck Shaner (Jane) and Kathy Arnold (Dan); and his nieces and nephews, Shirley and Jeff Jones. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 8th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Newcomer Funeral Home (3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 at 11:30 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Sunset Cemetery (6959 W Broad St, Galloway, OH 43119).
