He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Lester Patton and Elizabeth Prime Keeler. He is survived by: his sons, Steve and Eric; his daughter-in-law Rebecca; his grandchildren, Zachary, Nicholas, Andrew and Amalia; and his brothers, Wendell and Robert.

Donations in his name can be made to the League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Columbus.
