He was predeceased by: his parents, Ethel Hamby Hayes and Dean Mills Hayes; and his wife Dolores Ann Holcombe Hayes. He is survived by: his children, Leslie Ann Hayes Villanueva (Richard) of Inman and Columbus Dean "Deanie" Hayes, Jr. (Lori) of Spartanburg; his stepson Sean Fortner (Dawn) of Inman; his grandchildren, Ethan Hayes, Lily Hayes, Erin Easler (Dylan), Erica Villanueva, Dylan Fortner and Kylie Fortner; and his sisters, Mabel Padgett of Jackson, GA and Debra White of Roebuck. He is also survived by three nieces.
