She was predeceased by: her parents, Arthur Jackson and Velma Kimble Jackson; and her husband Dr. William E. Nelson, Jr.. She is survived by: her sons, Nicholas and Nick; her grandson Quinn; and her siblings, Hattie, Pollie (Alpha) and Joe (Juanita). She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, sorority sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Alzheimer's Association in her memory.
