He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilson Dennis Heard and Mamie Dee Heard (Williams); his former wife Judy Reynolds Heard; his stepmother Phyllis Heard; and his brothers, Ralph Heard and Gary Heard.
He is survived by: his wife Dawn Heard (Sharp); his children, Don Heard II, Marcus Heard, Sommer Hall and Micaela Coleman; his grandchildren, Maleigha Heard, Amaia Heard and Aiden Johnson; his brothers, Rufus Heard and Everett Heard (Minyon); and his mother-in-law Betty Abbott. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and close friends.
