It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Emmit Burchett of Columbus, Ohio, who passed away on March 23, 2026, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Orville Burchett and Sadie Adkins Burchett; his wife Ruth; his siblings, Paul Ray Burchett, Shirley DeBord, William Burchett, Clyde Burchett, Walter Burchett and Nellie Levering; his stepson Jimmy Hawthorne; and his stepgrandson Joseph Hawthorne.
He is survived by: his siblings, Wanda Welch (Jerry), Nannie Stewart (Earl) and Ronnie Burchett; his daughter Emma Moore (Rick); his stepchildren, Joanie Behrens (Greg), Rocky Hawthorne (Debra) and Tim Hawthorne (Cindy); his stepdaughter-in-law Sharon Hawthorne; his grandchildren, Justin Hamilton, Chloe Haines (James) and Emilie Hamilton (Josh); his stepgrandchildren, Alicia, Micala Behrens, Kevin Hawthorne (Kim), Amy Hawthorne, Ryan Hawthorne (Ashley), Nicholas Hawthorne, Jeffrey Hawthorne (Fabiola Peñalba) and Katelyn Hawthorne (Tyler); and his great grandchildren, Brandon Hamilton, Larry Haines, Olivia Hamilton, Kyle Hawthorne, Samantha, Jake Hall, Jordyn Hawthorne, Elliana, Everly, Theodore, Genevieve and Bennett Hawthorne. He is also survived by his grandchildren, he was more than a grandfather.
