He was predeceased by: his parents, William Nairn and Harriet Nairn; his wife Mary M. Nairn; his daughter Lisa M. Owings; his granddaughter Michelle M. Owings; and his brothers, Charles, Harold and Bernard Nairn.

He is survived by: his children, Don Nairn (Cathy), Rebecca and Laura Nairn (John); and his sons-in-law, Stephen Owings and Tracy Morgan (Rebecca). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
