She was predeceased by: her parents, Alex Baker and Minnie Baker; her aunt Bertha Edwards; her daughter Georgia Anne Meeks Reese; her grandchildren, Toya Alexander, Bernard Smith, Jr., Chasjuan Meeks, Melvin Hawkins, Jr., Antonio Johnson, Reggie Sims, George Hawkins, Frank Smith and Edward Archie; and her close friend Louis Easley.
She is survived by: her children, Helen Baker Myers, Irene Thorpe, Cathleen Hawkins, Melvin Hawkins (Sarah), Michael Hawkins (Rowenia), Theresa Hawkins and Bernard Smith. She is also survived by 39 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren, and a host of great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory, honoring her lifelong spirit of giving and service.
