He was predeceased by: his father Nathan Maynard; his wife Sharol Maynard; his sons, James Maynard Jr. and Ricky Maynard; and his siblings, Tennis Maynard, Nathan J. Maynard, Elmer Maynard, Leonard Maynard, Betty and Irene.

He is survived by: his granddaughter Tiffani (Victor Paini); and his great grandchildren, Wesley Paini and Julia Paini. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
