He was predeceased by: his parents, Eva Shaheen and Nicholas Shaheen. He is survived by: his wife Sylvia Drakos; his children, Debbie, Nick and Jimmy; his grandchildren, Chris, Tyler, Jenna, Olivia, James and Joseph; and his great grandchildren, Rhodes, Leah and Brisa. He is also survived by his family and friends.

Recognizing their contributions to the community, the mayor of Delaware declared September 20, 1989 as Sylvia and Jim Shaheen Day in Delaware.
