He was predeceased by: his parents, Edmond Flaherty and Margaret Flaherty (Diggins); his former wife Lorna Flaherty (Wright); and his siblings, Michael, Johanna, Mary, Edmond, William, Margaret and Eileen.
He is survived by: his wife Teresa "Teri" Flaherty (Lupton); and his children, Tamara Turner (Donald), James Patrick Flaherty Jr. (Debra), Bridget Frash (Ronald II), First Sergeant Riley Flaherty (Mollie), Shannon McGahn (Donald), Megan Flaherty and Sara Flaherty. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Egan-Ryan Funeral Home (403 E Broad St, Columbus, OH 43215). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. Francis of Assisi (386 Buttles Ave, Columbus, OH 43215). A burial was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 at the St. Joseph Cemetery (6440 S High St, Lockbourne, OH 43137).
