With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James J. Schmidt of Columbus, Ohio, who passed away on November 23, 2022 at the age of 99. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Mary (Scheel); his parents, Harry Schmidt and Anna Schmidt; his children, Theresa (David), Jamie (Susan) and Robert (Jaqueline); his daughter-in-law Carolyn Schmidt; and his grandchildren, Matthew, Abby (John), Katherine (Andrew), Aaron Alex (Ashley) and Yvonne.
Jim was awarded the Mather Medal for his outstanding contributions to the knowledge of the geology of the State of Ohio.
