He is survived by: his wife Ellen Elizabeth Carney of New Lexington; his children, Joyce Strait (David), Jim Spires (Tricia), Eileen Competti, Patty McDaniel (David) and David Spires (Anita); his grandchildren, Andrea Drumm (Nate), Anna Squires (Ben), Leslie Bowen (Zach), Erin Arter (Patrick), Dominic Competti, Ryan Competti (Raven), Evan McDaniel, Alex McDaniel, Victoria Ebert (Jerry) and Adam Spires; and his great grandchildren, Will Arter, Emma Arter, Claire Arter, Myles Dennis, Penelope Squires, Caroline Bowen, Alana Competti, Meredith Bowen and Archie Drumm.

A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption (132 S High St, Lancaster, OH 43130). A burial will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at the St. Mary Cemetery (1500 S Broad St, Lancaster, OH 43130).
