He was predeceased by: his parents, Cora Louise Preston and Richard Preston; and his siblings, Patricia "Pat" Preston, Deborah Preston, Janet Preston and Terrance "Terry" Preston.
He is survived by: his children, Jerome Johnson (Jennifer), Ta'Sasha Johnson, Erica McCoy (Ernie), TeZana Johnson, Aneeca McCoy and Lisa Sherman. He is also survived by grandchildren, family and friends.
