It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joan Pearson (Columbus, Ohio), born in Chatsworth, Georgia, who passed away on June 19, 2025, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her siblings, Mary and James, Jr.; her children, Beatrice Austin (Kay), Teddy Austin and Richard Austin; and her grandson Sterling Austin Palmer.
She is survived by: her family Georgia; her husband Theodore Austin, Jr. (Ted); her family, James, Richard, Mary and Beatrice (Kay); her children, James Austin (Dottie), Mary Austin-Palmer (Donald) and Marcia Dukes, Sr. (Greg); her grandson Anthony Austin (Tracey); and her children, Lynetta Burton (Nic Austin), Tiffany Harris (Brian), Tracey Hughes, LaTasha Austin, Tenika Smith (Marcus), Gregory Dukes, Jr. and Jessica Dukes. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, a great-great grandson, extended family.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 1st 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Chapel of Caliman Funeral Services (3700 Refugee Rd, Columbus, OH 43232). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, July 2nd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens (5600 E Broad St, Columbus, OH 43213).
