It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Johnny Ray Ooten (Columbus, Ohio), who passed away on October 2, 2025, at the age of 67, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Rush Ooten and Bessie Ooten; his siblings, Grover Ooten and Bertha Mullins; and his friends, Karl Bailey, Brad Perkins and David Rodriguez.
He is survived by: the mother of his children Linda Ooten; his children, Edna Soulivong, John Ooten (Rachel) and Melinda Ooten-Woods (Charles); his siblings, Pearl Fankhouser, Wallace (late Constance Ooten), Vickie (late Jerry Beeman), Bessie (Jeffrey Jones), Kathy (Aaron Lehman) and Anetta Simms; and his sister-in-law Debbie Ooten (late Grover Ooten). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 8th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:15 PM at the Short North Chapel (34 W 2nd Ave, Columbus, OH 43201). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 8th 2025 from 1:15 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 8th 2025 from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at the Grove City Cemetery West Grove.
