He is survived by: his wife Gloria Russell; his children, Lawrence (Roxanne Russell), Tracey Jimerson, Randee, Ty Berger, Chasity Jo Shrewsbury and Jerry Moton; his stepchildren, Cherine Travis, Omni Roddey, Otis Roddey, Shantel Roddey, Collette and Anthony Bennett; and his siblings, Gayle Sullivan, Wilena (Dwight Garrett), Pam Mallory, Tyrone (Sharon Russell), Gene Russell, Wayne (Marsha Russell) and Kenneth (Darla Russell). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
