She was predeceased by: her parents, Alice Mathews and Robert Mathews Sr.; and her brother Robert E. Mathews Jr.. She is survived by: her nephew Rob Mathews (Kim) of Atlanta, Georgia; her niece Maggie Freytag (Gavin) of Columbus, Ohio; and her great-nieces and great-nephews, Robert, Evee, Reid, Abigail, Eliza and Hunter.

She was also active in the community through the Zonta Club of Columbus, the American Cancer Society, TWIG 102 of Nationwide Children's Hospital, and the Women's Association of the Columbus Symphony.
