He is survived by: his wife Karen Smathers; his siblings, Jim McMahon, Amy McMahon and Marcia Mastroddi; his niece Amber Johnson; and his stepson Scott Smathers.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 3rd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM at the Schmidt's Sausage Haus (240 E Kossuth St, Columbus, OH 43206). A Mass was held on Tuesday, November 3rd 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the St. Josephine Bakhita Parish. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, November 4th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Cook & Son Funeral Home & Crematory (1631 Parsons Ave, Columbus, OH 43207).
