He is survived by : his wife Mary Ann Castillo Gerlach; his daughters, Rachel Gerlach, Ann Fitch (Brandon) and Mary Alice Gerlach (Nicholas Hamilton); his grandchildren, Nathaniel Gain (Shyla Payne), Michael Joseph Gain, Emily Gain, Rebecca Gerlach-Hobbs and Nora Gerlach Hamilton; his great grandchildren, Legend and Kai; his sisters, Sandra, Susan, Shirley, Mary Jo and Beth; and his sisters-in-law, Nancy and Rachel Castillo.

Visitation was held on Sunday, May 19th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Maeder-Quint-Tiberi Funeral Home (1068 S High St, Columbus, OH 43206). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, May 20th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the St. Mary Church (684 S 3rd St, Columbus, OH 43206).
