He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary M. Dalton Johnson and George L. Johnson, Sr.; his grandfather Edward L. Dalton; his aunt Roberta Valentine (Paul Jackson); and his siblings, Charles, George and Marie Audrey (Roberta Johnson).
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Jones Johnson; his sons, Lance Pace, Dale Johnson (Sheryl), Paul Johnson (Kathryn), DeAndre Gaston and Dametrius Brown; his siblings, Mary Ann Anderson (Marcus, Jr.), William "Bill" Johnson (Sandra) and Marguerite "Marty" Conley; his sister-in-law Odessa Johnson; his mother-in-law Emma Jones; his grandchildren, Kiara, Kejuan, Dillon, McKinley, Jonah and Karsyn; his pets, Simba and Piper Pooh; and his close friends, Rev. Henry C., Sue Stringer, Rev. John and Sue Edgar. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
