She was predeceased by: her husband James Vincent Burkes; and her siblings, Raymond Hairston, William P. Hairston, Jr., Rickey Hairston, Sr., Kenneth Hairston, Norman Hairston, Sr., Lillian Shaw and Janet Carreker.
She is survived by: her son Darryl Burkes Sr.; her grandchildren, Ashley Burkes, Tracey Tompkins (Mitchel), Kelley Burkes and Darryl Burkes, Jr.; and her sisters, Sandra Hairston, Joyce Grahm, Audrey Hairston and Patty Hairston. She is also survived by 12 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
