She was predeceased by: her parents, Anthony Herbert and Charlie Nina Thompson (Manlove); her husband Sam Higgins; her son-in-law Richard; her siblings, Hubert, Edward, Herman, Hershel Thompson, Emma Crockett, Elizabeth Hopson, Myrtle Nesbitt Simpson and Katherine Goldstein; and her close friend Leoni.
She is survived by: her daughter Marilyn Elizabeth Alston; her stepchildren, David and Debra Smith; and her grandchildren, Gerald, Nathan, Craig, Tony, Kenny, Ayana, LeStar, David and Angel. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
