He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Mathews and Alice Mathews Sr. (Nelleny). He is survived by: his sister Marianne Mathews; his children, Robert Mathews III (Kim) of Atlanta and Maggie Freytag (Gavin) of Columbus, Ohio; and his grandchildren, Robert, Evee, Reid, Abigail, Eliza and Hunter.
