He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Dunn; his parents, Erastus Young and Emily Young; his brothers, Solomon and Richard Dunn; and his grandson Dejuan Young.

He is survived by: his children, Wanda, Tanya Young-Mobley, Ronald Young (Vanessa), Duane Young (Olivia) and David Young (Kimberly); his grandchildren, Takeasha, Monique, Tanya, Ronald, India, Richard, Samuel III, Talena, Eric, Imani, Pepsi, Louis, David, Queen and Elise; his great great grandchild Kairo; his daughter Patricia Devlin; his siblings, Barbara Key (Eddie), Vivian McCann, Deborah Hicks (William) and Joseph Young (Faye); and his sister-in-law Joan Dunn. He is also survived by thirty-six great grandchildren.
