She was predeceased by: her parents, Alma McCarthy (Sheehan) and William McCarthy; her husband Bob Cook; and her brother Bill McCarthy. She is survived by: her children, Kevin Cook (Kimberly) of Windermere, FL, Kathy Cook of Boston, MA, Colleen Cook of Portsmouth, NH, Susan Cook of Columbus and Julie Cook (Greg Pattison) of Powell; her granddaughters, Arla Alexander (John) and Ann Marie; her great grandchildren, Evie Grace, Addie Joy, Noah and Luke; her sister-in-law Debbie McCarthy; her pets, Buffy, Holly and Molly; and her friend Pat Faist.

A celebration of life was held on Thursday, November 13th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Julie & Greg's Home (8484 Deep Run, Powell, OH 43065). Visitation was held on Friday, November 14th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the St. Andrew Church (1899 McCoy Rd, Columbus, OH 43220). A funeral Mass was held on Friday, November 14th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the St. Andrews Church (Upper Arlington) (1899 McCoy Rd, Columbus, OH 43220).

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in memory of Ruth be made to the Alzheimer's Association Central Ohio Chapter (https://www.alz.org) or The Central Ohio American Heart Association.
