He was predeceased by: his brother James Elrod; and his father Charles W. Elrod. He is survived by: his wife Mary Lynn Elrod; his children, Heidi Spittler (Chris), Steven Johnston, Ashley Gearheart, Kyle Johnston, Caleb Elrod, Emily Elrod and Carissa Jewell (Joshua); his grandchildren, Makena Jewell, Artorias Gearheart of Lance, Jewell and Emry Jewell; his mother Jacqueline VanBibber; and his siblings, Cheryl Elrod and Craig Elrod (Dawn). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
