He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Quentin Smith and Ruth Hawkins Smith; his grandmother Hester Jackson; his mother-in-law Ollie B. Cowan; and his great grandchild Brookes Zhyonn Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Frances Cowan Smith; his children, William Franklin Smith and Dorcella Jeanne Winbush (Gregory); and his grandsons, Jamelle Isaac Cornley, Gaven Rhys Smith (Brooke) of Pembroke, MA, Theron Abbott Smith (Leslie) and Javon Timothy Cornley (Sydney) of Carmel, IN. He is also survived by nephews, nieces and cousins.
