He was predeceased by: his parents, John Christopher and Dicie M. Funk (Thomas); his grandson Matthew Hess; and his brothers, John Funk and Ted Brown.
He is survived by: his wife Thelma Funk; his daughters, Cheryl Hess (James), Debra C. Funk and Pamela Andes (Dale); his grandchildren, James Hess, Jr. (Kelli), Lindsay Sylvester (Mark), Douglas Gustafson (Andrea), Michael Gustafson (Jessica) and Alyssa Blood (Justin); his great grandchildren, Johnathan, Emmalyn, Oliver and Nora; and his wonderful neighbors, Steve, Alli Flack, Barry and Allie Gill.
