He was predeceased by: his parents, John W. Chapin and Sylvia Chapin Sr. (Frey); and his brothers, Christopher and Allen Chapin. He is survived by: his wife Susan (Borgerding); his daughters, Tammy Ertl (Andre Darlymple) of Pittsboro, NC and Tiffany Blom (Dan) of Chesterfield, VA; his siblings, Karin Tennant (Robert) of Conneaut, OH, Daniel (Deb Burgener) of Sterling, VA, Michael (Joan) of The Villages, FL and Roy of Canoga Park, California; his grandchildren, Rachel Ewing (Wes), Jennifer Bohuczky (Daniel), Ethan Blom (Sarah Crockett), Camden Blom, Mia Blom, Brooke Ertl (Carter Hill) and Ava Blom; and his great grandchildren, Banks and Baylor.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2nd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, October 3rd 2025 at 10:00 AM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 3rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Good Shephard Lutheran Church (876 Grove St, Conneaut, OH 44030).
Memorial Contributions can be made in his memory to the Conneaut Firefighters Association Local 651, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, or the Alzheimer's Association.
