He was predeceased by: his parents, David Eagleson and Nancy Eagleson (Cotterman); his former wife Carol Jo Elston; his siblings, Betty Rayle (Owen), Donald Eagleson, Robert Eagleson, Richard Eagleson (Marceen), Albert Eagleson, LaVoid Eagleson, Ruth Eagleson and Gladys Eagleson; and his brother-in-law Nick Schroeder.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Jane Recker; his children, Pete Thatcher of Findlay, Joe Eagleson, Jr. (Mel) of Defiance, Natalie Butler (Rick) of Leipsic, Dean Eagleson (Diane) of Continental, Bob Eagleson (Otto) of Wren and Melinda Chamberlain (Dan) of Leipsic; his stepchildren, Scott Lambert of Michigan, Chad Lambert (Kelly) of Kalida and Jaci Knott of Kalida; his sister Shirley Kelly of Belmore; and his in-laws, John Recker (Diana) of Kalida, Joyce Giesige (Don) of Ottawa, Ron Recker (Roxy) of Defiance, Tom Recker (Nancy) of Lima, Joan Schroeder of Columbus Grove, Don Recker (Brenda) of Glandorf and Judy Solomon (Joe) of Columbus Grove. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; twenty six great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild.
