He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Frank and Blanche H. Kowalczyk (Duda). He is survived by: his wife Theresa L. Kowalczyk (Arnold) of Cortland, OH; his sons, Joseph D. Kowalczyk (Vicky) of Akron, OH and Christopher M. Kowalczyk (Stacia) of Richmond, VA; his stepson Bruce M. McQuain, Jr.; his siblings, Paul Kowalczyk (Peg) of Cornelius, NC, Victoria Malys (Ted) of Cortland, OH and Linda Holtzman (Tony Shiflette) of Anderson, SC; and his grandchildren, Carter, Jak, Gabe, Rhane, Cameron, Kaelan and Devon.
