He was predeceased by: his parents, Nathaniel Whitby and Ethel Tuff Whitby Sr.; his stepson Andre Ervin; and his sisters, Mamie Mitchell and Mary Helen Jett.
He is survived by: his daughters, Sonya Laster Parker (Sam) of Cincinnati and Tracy Whitby of Cincinnati; his sisters, Lilly Mae Gill of Cincinnati and Annie Bell Whitby of Cincinnati; and his grandchildren, Ebony Laster, Eric Whitby, Rodneishsa Whitby, Camie Williams and Cassandra "Nikki" Nicole Baumgartner. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, family and friends.
