He was predeceased by: his grandparents, William "Bill" and Rosalie McKee; his father-in-law Skip Ferrell; and his uncle Steve McKee. He is survived by: his parents, Roxie Jeffries (McKee) and Tom Smailes; his brother Judd Smailes (Anastasia); his niece Kay-Lee Smailes; his stepsiblings, Troy Melick and Amy McCoy (Kevin); his mother-in-law Delores Ferrell; his brother-in-law J. D. Ferrell (Julie); and his sibling's children, Jake, Josh and Jessica Ferrell.
