She was predeceased by: her brothers, Maynard Kuhnle and Richard "Dick" Kuhnle; her grandson Ryan Sweitzer; her son-in-law Tim Watren; and her uncle James Ellis.
She is survived by: her husband Bill Shafer; her children, Sherry Ann Wackler of Covington, Jeanie Louise Whittaker-Payne, Tina Sue (Curtis Finley), Michael David (Robin Shafer), Lisa Lynn Shafer of Bradford, Angela Kay Watren (Mark Goodin) of Pleasant Hill and Michelle Renee (Phil Reck); her siblings, Judith K. Smith of Covington, Herbert Gragg of Piqua and David (Darlene Gragg); and her pet Sami. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.
