He was predeceased by: his parents, James H. Hicks, and Teresa B. Hicks, Sr. (Rietschlin); his brother-in-law John Shell; and his nephews, Eric Yetzer and Brent Slone.
He is survived by: his wife Jeannie Marie Hicks (Hook); his children, Alexa and Brandon; his siblings, Diane Shell, Susan Yetzer (Allen), James Hicks, Jr. (Linda), Joseph Hicks (Tammy), William Hicks, Rebecca Hicks-Concilla and Heidi Barga (Brian); his stepdaughters, Tammy Collins (Robert) and Shelly Duffy; and his stepgrandchildren, Christopher Krick, Victoria Price, Joshua Collins and Aaron Collins. He is also survived by 9 step great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at 7:00 PM and on Saturday, July 25th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Penwell Funeral Home (168 W Main St, Shelby, OH 44875). A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church (5741 State Rte 61, Shelby, OH 44875).
Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to offset funeral expenses.
