He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin "Ben" Buckner and Lizzie Buckner (Plank); his sons, Jeffrey Buckner and Mark Buckner; his siblings, Fred Buckner, Nellie McCleese, Opal Burkett, Beulah Brown, Louise Little, Genevia Nickell, Noah Buckner, Frank Buckner, Gladys Cooper, Mary Cooper and Bennie Buckner; and his daughter-in-law Christine Buckner.

He is survived by: his wife Sandra Buckner (Simpson); and his children, Laura Nold (Jeff) of Shelby, David Buckner of Crestline and Todd Buckner (Jen) of Cullman.
