She was predeceased by: her parents, Clinern Mays and Jannie Mae Smith (Middlebrook); and her brother James Smith, Jr.. She is survived by: her husband Allen Louis Payne; her daughter Annesa LeShawn Payne Cheek; her grandchildren, Avery Jean Marie and Austin William Allen Cheek; her siblings-in-law, Phyllis Payne and Anthony Payne; her cousins, Karen Hall, Brenda White and Carol Munday; and her sister Mary Brooks. She is also survived by nieces, cousins, relatives, and friends.
A celebration of life was held on Monday, January 19th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc. (2107 N Gettysburg Ave, Dayton, OH 45406).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Ann to the National Alzheimer's Association.
