He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara Mayfield Adams; his mother Darlean Adams; his sister Geraldine Smith; and his nephews, Billy, Chris and Keith Smith.
He is survived by: his children, Edward, Kelly Allen (Derek) of Dayton, Sharon Harlin of Richmond and Tracy Dawkins (Nelson) of Raleigh; his grandchildren, Amy Dennis of Dayton and Chris Allen of Plano; his sibling's children, Kay Smith and Darol Smith; and his grandchildren, Jordan of Dayton, Jayla Adams of Dayton, Jazmyne of Dayton, Gabrielle of Dayton and Will Dennis of Dayton.
