He was predeceased by: his parents, Willem Braaksma and Augustina Braaksma; and his brother James Braaksma. He is survived by: his wife Diane; his daughters, Angela Conley (John), Jennifer Perry (Randy) and Michelle Braaksma; his grandchildren, Amber Saettel (Nick), Daniel Frederick Puslat (Ali), John-John Conley, Kelsey Puslat and Randy Perry (Abigail); his great grandchildren, Grayson Frederick Puslat, Evelynn Puslat, Sophia Puslat, Kennedy Saettel, Emmalynn Saettel and Wesley Perry; and his siblings, Anjes Wilson (Eric), Judy Braaksma-Judy, Cherie Provenzano (Vincent), Tony Braaksma, Roy Braaksma and Philip Braaksma (Margrett). He is also survived by his wife and daughters.
