It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jerald R. Smith (Dayton, Ohio), who passed away on October 1, 2025, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Smith and Mary Smith (McAtee); and his sister Rita Williams. He is survived by: his wife Janet Smith (Howell); his daughters, Jonda Jennings, Jill Smith, Janice Mazzone and Jodi Hinders; his grandchildren, Caitlyn Jennings, Melanie Walton (Steve), Eric Jones, Rachael Fahncke (BJ), Janiel Bowman (Michael) and Lauren Borgert; and his siblings, Jim Smith (Shirley) and Nancy Cohee (Ed). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 7th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church (6245 Wilmington Pike, Dayton, OH 45459). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, October 7th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Jerald's name to Ohio's Hospice of Dayton.
