He was predeceased by : his parents, Hershel Smith and Martha Smith Trissel (Gibson); his siblings, Sheila Smith and James Smith; his stepfather Robert Trissel; and his stepbrother Eddie Trissel.

He is survived by : his significant other Roxie Watson; his daughters, Melisa Smith and Mariah Newton (Erik); his siblings, Jeffrey Smith (Teresa), Shirley Reilly (Ed) and Sandra Davis; and his grandchildren, Holt Newton and Charlotte Newton. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

A reception was held on Friday, April 26th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Swart Funeral Home (207 E Central Ave, West Carrollton, OH 45449).
